If the fed taxes don't take you out then there is state or county and local taxes. Add to that if you have a plan then the economy is manipulated and the interest rates go up so the banks which are controlled by the govt does you in. And with no real way of making it, the business owners have reduced pay and fewer workers. And the govt goes on and hires more that do less and taxes are not enough to pay these overpaid govt workers that come in from 8-4:30 to make things a hassle for the businessman/woman. So the govt is killing us with 2 body blows -- taxes and regulations. Contrary to what the press says, the Tea Party has the only plausible answer and the Democrats are at least four times as bad as the RINO's that are slowly taking us to the same inevitable end as the Democrats are with the progressive goals of socialism through taxation and regulations and YES I have seen it first hand. The say if you tax the rich less they will spread it to the less deserving. Well, folks you see how well that has worked over the last 30 years where the tax rates for the rich has plummeted. We still are a very rich country. The only problem is the money has shifted to the very few rich. We really did not have a financial crisis, but a shift in wealth. Hopefully people get pissed off enough to finally realize this. It's already starting with the Occupy Wall Street movement. Maybe a new political party will come out of it. But, eventually will come out of this mess.

I think our two party political system has brought the demise of the american dream. Too may special interests are allowed to buy votes. I am fiscally conservative and socially liberal, our government fails to balance the good for all against the needs of the few. For those of us lucky enough to save for retirement, there is no safe place to put the money. In many ways our dream is becoming the European reality, several generations will have to begin residing under one roof. Despite multiple degrees and years of experience, career security continues to degrade, along with benefits. Except of course, for elected officials.
