Im 17 and the doctor told me that in my last blood exam it showed that i have high prolactin levels. I guess this would explain my random dizziness. Well i do menstruate every 35 days. Should i be worried? I think i might have hyperthyroidism but they checked my blood for t4 and it came out normal. I was recently in the hospital and no lie everyone thought my fast heart rate was my thyroid but it seems to look normal. Should i check for t3 and t2? Im sooo skinny. Im 5'5 and i weigh 110.

I wonder if they should check your eyes and perhaps do a head scan to look at your pituitary gland.

If your TSH and T4 are normal, your thyroid is fine.

Some women have high prolactin levels through stress, sleep disturbance or other physiological reasons but the most worrying cause of high prolactin would be a particular type of (benign) brain tumour called a Prolactinoma.

Age can vary as the high prolactin level is the result of a hormonal imbalance from your pituitary gland at the base of the brain. This should not be much of an issue aside from irregular menstrual cycles until you are trying to become pregnant. At that time, you may want to begin a treatment. Typically, when you stop treatments the condition can return if it is aggresive. High prolactin levels can also result in tumors in the lactaid glands which can be benign or cancerous. It is good to monitor this with your doctor's advising and get MRI's if needed to look for tumors.
