One time my friend was trying to impress a boy and she was like
"Look she keeps following me could you make her go away??"
I'm really pissed, and she's started pretending to be nice to this one girl and then as soon as she left she was like, "Oh she's annoying and weird" to another group of people. Should I still be friends with her? She's really fun and nice sometimes but other times she's a complete jerk!

You don't need help, she does. You see her phoniness for what it is, and that's a good thing. Decide for yourself whether it's an innocent quirk or if she's harming people with it; then decide further whether you want to continue your association with her. We all know people like this, and we realize their behavior is usually the result of insecurities they're not facing properly. But there is a time to cut your losses by distancing yourself from these people...you have to decide if this is one of those times.

Someone who is willing to hurt your feelings to impress someone isn't the kind of person you want to be friends with or that you yourself want to be, so though I think that it's okay to be her friend, I don't think you should invest too many emotions or too much trust into the friendship until she better shows that she can be a good friend to you. Make an effort to show her that you are a loyal friend who would never be a jerk to her or to anyone else, and who knows, maybe she'll notice and become a better friend.

She seems very insecure and is seeking the approval of the wrong people. If you feel that she is genuinely a good person and it's a friendship worth saving, I would tell her that she's only making herself look bad by putting others down. Good luck!
