I moved into this house and at first when the carpets were wet from the shampooing there was no stinch, but as soon as it dryed it smelted so disgusting. I got the smell to go away after living there for about 1-2 weeks, and then I finally got out of my lease because there is mold in the bathroom and I have severe asthma. I do have pets, but all are trained, and the one dog at first would accidently go on the floor, but I would catch it and clean it with a carpet shampooer right away, zo it did not get a chance to soak into the carpet. When I moved out I shampped the carpet again...was not stincky before or while it was wet, but when it dried it smelled of the same smell when I moved in. The landlord is now trying to sew me for a new carpet, and I'm trying to prove to the judge that we did not cause the stinch. This is a very old house and the carpet is at least 10 years old. Can somebody please help me with this question.

If the carpet is not cleaned or sanitized properly then yes both the stain and smell will come back, unless the padding is replaced or cleaned as well it will always be there... The same thing goes for punch soda and more... I hope this helps but if not you can call a good carpet cleaning company near you and ask them then if they can ask them if they will write a statement stating what they told you, this will help out greatly with your case.

Get a court order, and have the carpet, pulled up and see if there is mold, and you said you had mold, so sue the landlord because he failed to keep up eith the structure, that is depending on you lease, i do not know what you signed. Other then that if you got pets, and there is a stink more than likely he will get away with charging you for a new carpet, that is depending on your lease. If it comes down to you having to buy carpet, agree that you will do it as long as you pick the carpet, that way it is in your price range, and if you want to get back at the landlord have neighbors in your apparment pressure him into buying carpet for the whole place, and also like i said remember the mold.

You should use Oxi clean on the stains. Dilute it in water and let it set into the carpet Works like magic and gets deep into the carpet to clean it all out not just on top where u can see.

When you moved in, did you by any chance make a list of problems the house had? If you did, that's probably your best help.
