To me it doesn't make sense, by feeding the poor don't we just help them to breed more poor folk.

But what if they put some type of birth control in the food to prevent the poor from breeding?

The reality of population control is that the ONLY people practicing it are those who can most afford children and who are the most ingenious among all of society. Countries with more and widely ignorant populations grow fast. Industrialized nations (native populations) typically see declining rates except for immigration of non industrialized populations.
Those who can fend for themselves and have the skills to assist others are slowly killing themselves off while those with little ability to fend for themselves let alone to help others are breeding like rabbits.
Wise of us to kill ourselves off isnt it???

Oh and love the ignorantly PC line one poster used about the poor not popping out kids left and right- too funny. Fact- the lower the income and education the more children they have. Fact- if we are not allowed to tie requirements to our aid (which we arent) then we will NEVER change the mindset of these people

Population control. For what purpose? Nature has a way of thinning the herd. And the poor people statement sounds elitist.

First of all useing the word "breed" is inappropriate, people aren't animals and your logic is faulty. Everyone deserves food, food does not make people go out and "breed", it means they won't be starving for another day....a lack of reproductive and sex education and means leads to over population....see it's easy to sit in America at home, that has heat and air and a refrigerater of food and easy, easy access to health care and things like birth control and it's easy to sit on your computer and look up sex education and get books on it all and we take for granted that we live in a country where women are given all rights to her body....in a lot of these "poor" countries, people simply do not have the education or means necessary to control reproduction...poor people have sex, poor people without some form of pregnancy prevention and knowledge have lots of kids...peole have been working for decades to solve this "problem" of over population among families and communities that can't adequately take care of children...and it's working, slowly...you have to literally go into a culture and change they way they have thought for centuries..its not easy, but denying them food is not the way to do it and that's cruel to think so...there are better ways to prevent unwanted pregnancies in a culture then letting them starve to death, because people find food, they will, and many of these "poor" people have a means of food, even if it is very little, and they still have children, lots of children....it's a complicated issue and you've over simplified it...besides diseases like AIDS are by far the most prevalient "population control" in countries like Africa.

we've been invaded by way of Mexico. That has positioned a brilliant rigidity on our financial device and scientific care in this country. There are approximately 40 million unlawful extraterrestrial beings in our country now. the government merely admits to twelve million. we are opened up too skinny to help our people in want. we are approximately to stand worldwide conflict III interior the midsection East. If Bush bombs Iran, Russia and China will part with Iran and we could get nuked. the placement is fairly extreme and that i don't see any management proper now to help us by way of this subject.....)(

Feeding and helping people out does not lead to breeding.

In fact, as education and wealth levels rise, breeding decreases.

That's why all the first world countries have low birth rates while third world countries are still having 5, 6, etc babies per couple.

So what's your plan? Let all the poor people starve? Poverty has several different causes. The over-population of the world is a huge issue but feeding hungry people is something that we should do just because we're all human beings.

The idea is to not bring more people into the world, but take care of the one's already here. The poor aren't breeding children left and right as you imagine.

It is one thing to control the population by reducing the number of unwanted births before they occur. Once the child is here, it is inhumane to starve them, thus the support of feeding the poor. To not do so would be tantamount to what the Nazis did.

So to summarize, it's better to not have the unwanted children, but if they are here we must feed them.

...You don't get the population under control by letting people die in the streets. You do it by really pushing birth control and other preventative measures. You don't do it by killing off people who really aren't inferior, as most people believe. I was homeless for two years, and I am very grateful to one man in particular who passed by me every single day and gave me 50 cents. I didn't even beg or anything and I got it, and I'm still alive. If I didn't have him, I would have died starving and alone.

I wish that upon no one. I am all in favor for population control, but not by deaths.
