Like for example if somebody is really hungry and they're asking for food you don't make them beg... but if your friend asks for a piece of gum or to borrow a pen, then make 'em beg.

it depends on what it is and if the person will take it as a joke or not.
If it is something small and the person begging will not get mad - then go for it - it could be really funny.
But if its something big that they really want or if they can't take a joke then they may get really mad.

I wouldn't ask someone to "beg" for anything. Nor would I expect someone to treat me that way. It is intolerable.
