This is very simple. You just have to put all the x one 1 side and the other whole numbers on the other sides, i.e:
3x+4 = x+6
(so you have to put all the x in one side, so -x on both sides)
3x+4-x = x+6-x
3x+4-x = 6
2x+4 = 6
(you have to put all whole numbers on one side, so -4)
2x +4- 4 = 6-4
2x= 2
(to know the value of x, you must remove the number 2 from 2x, to do this, you have to divide by 2 on both sides)
2x/2 = 2/2
x=1
