How true are the things that are seen in dramas and movies in the U.S? Please elaborate if it's true, which state would be most comparable?

I would like to know because I am contemplating working and living in the U.S and I am from South East Asia.

To the 3 ladies that answered my question. I think that is a very honest opinion and I am torn for the best answer since they are all good. As for the dude, I just have to say that sarcasm ill becomes you.

If you were to watch all the things that were on tv, you'd think we were all incredibly wealthy, that every town was infested with gangs, and we murder each other with impunity. Instead, we're mostly ordinary people living ordinary lives. If I were you, I would find some people who had actually been there to describe it. Or you could contact your nearest American embassy and ask to be put into contact with some willing Americans to answer your questions.

Very true.

Every medium sized town has a newspaper reporter who lives with a man from Mars.

Seattle is a hotbed of crossing human DNA with cats to make super powered woman soldiers.

In California, you can find boys who can fly and cheerleaders who are indestructible. In New York, the cops can read minds and give you nightmares.

In San Francisco, news reporters can go back in time to change things in the present.

In a small town, there's a piemaker who can make dead strawberries fresh again. His waitress knows all the words to all the Grease songs by heart.

Information on all the spies in the world is contained in the head of one computer repair guy who works at the Best Buy store in Burbank, California. I've stopped shopping there because half the workers there and half the customers are spies.

God, in various disguises, talks to a teenage girl in Arcadia, California.

All lifeguards look like Pamela Anderson or David Hasselhoff.

You're not smarter than a fifth grader, but you want to marry a millionaire.

The stuff you see on tv is an exagerated view on life in the USA. Sure, some things are based in reality but for the most part they really add to things to draw in viewers.

which shows are you talking about?

Much of what you see on tv is fake. However, it is a bird's eye view into the American psyche.
