I was wondering why marijuana, scientifically proven to be beneficial to the ill and depressed, proven to not cause any physical addiction (like, say, antidepressants), proven to help sleep, should be illegal. We live in a drug culture. Turn on the tv... "If it's raining on tuesday and your knee itches three times, you have this disease... take our drug... side effects, stroke, bloody stool, projectile vomiting..." It seems everything is a syndrome today and the Rx companies are very succesful. Just the other day an ad for an allergy medicine (all in one!), where they said, "we don't know exactly HOW this works..." It seems that as long as the government can make money off the "legal" drugs they are okay no matter how full of bull or what side effects they cause or lack of long-term effect knowledge, but the side-effect free GOD GIVEN herb that you can grow in your own garden and is good medicine for sooo much is illegal, generating billions for the government in legal fines! WHY?

ACTUALLY, HEROIN AND COKE NEED TO BE CHEMICALLY PROCESSED TO BECOME THE DRUGS WE SEE TODAY. THE GREEKS RELIED ON POPPY SAP AS A MUCH LESS POTENT PAIN KILLER.

Yes, let's legalize it and all other drugs...coke, crack, heroin, LSD, MDMA, GBH, and all the other "fun" stuff. That way, we can let Darwinism take its course and rid the country of the lowlifes who blame the cops for themselves getting arrested rather than taking responsibility for their own actions. Sometimes, there's something to be said for eugenics, if not for Darwinism.

I agree that marijuana should be legal. I don't smoke marijuana, but I know many people that do. I think smoking weed is much safer than drinking alcohol, just from what I've seen first hand in my own life, from people that I know. I have never known anyone who got in a car accident due to marijuana, but I have personally known 3 people who died in alcohol related car accidents. But I think that if marijuana ever became legal, the Government would slap a huge tax on it, and somehow turn it into their own benefit.

The government studied this, and it turns out marijuana is not beneficial. It turns out that even though it has many qualities, there is no way for the ruling elite to make money from it, as it can be grown in any back yard. If there is no money in the deal, the ruling elite will outlaw the alternative medicine, no matter how effective it may be. Revolution!

Well thats our lovely government doing that bullcrap to us.. YES we should legal it.. its part of the earth there is nothing we have to add to it like other drugs and ciggs. But the only way the government makes there money is by putting out such products that dont work and that give you other side effects so you would have to buy more products that cover up these side effects that the first drug gave you...ohh yea our government is messed up about that they do have the medicine to get rid of cancer and aids and alot of other illness....But will they ? Nope because they want to put out medicine that causes other side effects to make you BUY more drugs...yea its stupid but hey its our government.

It was classified as such because the government did not like all the protests against the war in the 60's. They felt it helped to produce the counter culture.

While the point is well taken that drugs are over-publicized legalizing more does not seem very logical. Here is legal drugs, stay away from those prescriptions that are regulated in dose???

I agree. Actually, I think marijuana should be legal and alcohol should be illegal. There is definitely a higher mortality rate with abusive drinking than abusive marijuana use!

Heroine and cocaine are also "God given", but I don't think we should legalize those. But marijuana is certainly less harmful than alcohol (also "God given"), so I say YES! Let's spark up a fatty, man, me and you!
