9y + 5 = 2y + 3 with working out really easy one (but not for me)

Follow these rules:
1) Move all variables to one side of the equation
2) What you do to one side you must do to the other inside

In the case of your equation:
9y+5=2y+3
9y+5-2y=2y-2y+3 (subtract 2y to get variable to one side)
7y+5=3 (result of the above step)
7y+5-5=3-5 (subtract 5 to move the number to one side)
7y=-2 (result of the above step)
7y/7=-2/7 (divide by 7 to find value of y)
y= -2/7 (result of the above step and the answer)

Hope that helps.
Good luck

9y + 5 = 2y + 3
9y = 2y -2 First subtract 5 from both sides.
7y = -2 Then subtract 2y from both sides
y = -2/7 Finally divide both sides by 7.

9y + 5 = 2y +3
Move the ys to the same side and the numbers to the other side
(9y-2y) + (5-5) = (2y - 2y) + (3-5)
7y = -2
Divide by 7 to get y
7y / 7 = -2 / 7

y=.29

I havent done math in ages so it will be fun to see if I am even close

9y+5=2y+3
subtract 2y from both sides
9y-2y+5=2y-2y+3
and we get 7y+5=3
now subtrct 5 from both sides
7y+5-5=3-5
and we get 7y=-2
and divide both sides by 7 and we get
y=-2/7

the idea is to get all the y's on one side and everything else on the other

9y+5=2y+3
9y-2y=3-5
7y=-2
y=-2/7

If you're trying to solve for y that is.

You first subtract 2y from each side and get: 7y + 5=3
Then you subtract 5 from each side: 7y= -2
Now you divide by 7 to get the variable by itself : y= -2/7
