While in NYC -- I find the opposite sex do the reverse of what you are asking. Being masculine, friendly and well dressed looking for people to communicate with can be fun, not to mention entertaining. Why people walk with the world on their shoulders has always been a mystery to me. Do one thing at a time; put the world down and smell the roses--you will make more friends and the load gets lighter with your accumulation of good friends.

Yes, all the time, unless I have smokes in my front pocket and all the "Street Folk" know me. I'm usually the one changing sides so I don't have to be asked for a smoke. Sounds ugly but I'm not giving out all my Cigarettes! Do ya know what those things cost nowadays?

Most just slightly adjust their body but keep walking.
There had been one guy who tried to be a bad A$$ and walk straight my way. He tripped and dropped his bottle of Sprite.
It was funny cuz he kept mumbling every cuss word in the book. Ha HA!

I've never been "on" SIDEWALK. So, I don't know. Frankly, I'm a little disturbed to think anyone has EVER been on SIDEWALK.
