Actually, taxes were paid for with work and grain. So for the most part, nothing. Though I do think the minimum wage was 1.4 Destersties per hour.

He didn,t, it was there civil duty at first , and they did it because they wanted to serve there god , after a few years they became disillusioned , that's when he made them almost slaves to get his way and had them driven many were born and died working on the pyramid , The Israelites and Moses is a typical story of that protest

the Pharaoh had both workers/peasants and slaves in all likelihood.

Payment was probably in food or goods rather than coin, but I am not certain on this part.

I do know that sometimes they went on strike.
