Whenever someone gets mad at me or says something even a LITTLE insulting, I get upset. Whenever it looks like someone hates me, or is not happy with me at the moment, I get really upset. How can I change?

I don't know for sure if there is a way you can change this,
but don't let people walk all over you. Stand up for yourself, and remember that if someone is mad at you, chances are you did something wrong so instead of getting upset find out what you did wrong, and apologize. Make up for it, so you can both be happy again.

God Bless xx

First of all, you have to realize that people will get angry with you from time to time over a variety of things. It's normal and everybody experiences it. You can choose to either get upset and/or defensive, or you can choose to listen and apologize if needed or explain yourself in a calm and rational way if the problem was some sort of misunderstanding.

Second, you have to try to figure out just what makes you think that if someone is upset with you they hate you and why you feel the need for everybody to be happy with you. If you can figure these things out, you can probably figure out how to stop being so sensitive. Do you feel the need to make sure everyone around you is happy? If so, that is a surefire way to always be unhappy. Happiness is a decision we all make. You cannot be responsible for everyone's happiness. Do you think you are perfect and therefore, nobody could ever be mad at you? That's immature and irrational. If you think that way, you just need to grow up.

Try not to take everything so personally. Be confident in who you are and take time to think about what's going on instead of wearing your feelings on your sleeve. I'm not saying you can never be upset if someone is angry with you, but you can train yourself to be less sensitive and more perceptive.

Hope this helps.

My best friend has the very same problem and I've been trying to help her, but it's not going really well. But I'll try to help you too.
Firstly, you have to realize that not everyone has to be fond of you. There will be people who love you, and people who don't like you as much. The point is to get to know everybody and find the ones that suit your personality best.
Also, don't think that everything people say to you is necessarily what they're thinking or feeling. It can be a matter of moment or just an exaggeration, so don't get upset over those small things, you'll only hurt yourself.
And last, but not least, love who you are. This is lame, I know, but you are not perfect and - guess what - you don't have to be! Not everyone will like, sometimes not even people you really care about, but that's life. If a simple conversation can't solve it, I don't think it's worth solving. But that really depends on the situation.
Good luck with everything C:

What you have to do is think about why you are upset. are you stressed about something and just putting your feelings onto the small problem? is there something happening at home that has pent up your feelings and made you too sensitive to those around you? are people doing things to you that had a bad impact on you when you are younger and those feelings are coming back to you now? are you pmsing or pregnant? after you have assessed your feelings and found out why you are so sensitive, you need to come up with a way to project it on to other things, or to show your sensitivity in a new way. instead of getting upset, try saying that it upset you and that you would like the person to not do it again. also, at home, try getting a masssage or use a facial mask. those things will help relieve stress and help you get into a state of relaxation. hope this helps!

well, you are taking a first step by understanding you have a problem and react in a different way to most people. You need to look carefully at what causes the sensitivity - is it made worse if you really care about someone but not so bad if you don't know the person very well?
Try to add some more details to help us help you. The world would be a much nicer place if more people were sensitive, so don't beat yourself up. Relax a little, life is not so bad.

You have to come to the realization (I mean, not just say it in your head but really internalize it) that what other people say doesn't matter. You need to have confidence in you, and know that you can do what you can do and everybody makes mistakes. If others choose to get angry about it, you can't help that. They were the ones that took offense. And often when school children insult each other, the insults are ridiculous and completely unfounded. That's where the confidence comes in. If you -know- that your mother doesn't wear army boots, why would you get upset that somebody would say that? Wouldn't it be cool if your Mom did wear army boots, anyway? Be yourself and be proud of it. Don't let other people get you down.

You can only change what you do, not who you are. - By me.

Ok, if your getting mad at something, one thing helps to warn the person. Another thing helps to tell the person you'll talk later because this isn't working out well. If you also don't look at things the wrong way, then you'll be fine. Learn to let go of the little things. It helped me but then again everyone's not me. Hope I helped you out in some way. Oh, and it doesn't help if there are alot of people around and your screaming and yelling and making a fool of yourself.

See a counselor. I am not just saying that, I am serious. Counselors can help you discover why you feel this way so that you can start conquering that feeling. You are probably thinking/feeling attacked and it is (according to your question details) an irrational feeling. I think you should get down to the heart of the problem with a professional so that you start working on the issue from the inside out.

Sensitivity is just a part of your personality!... It's party of mine too. Lucky us. But really, you can't change the fact that your sensitive. You can try to deal with it in different ways such as trying to not get so upset about it. Try not to worry so much about what other people think about you too.... It's not worth it to worry about that, people are gonna think what they want regardless of what you do! Good luck!
