I have this group of 4 friends at school and there is this one girl in our group that is so annoying and she really gets on our nerves. She always makes fun of people without caring how they feel.Like for example I like to collect different kinds of nail polish. When i come to school with it she tells me ,'Stop wearing that I don't like it."So then I tell her that it's not her bussiness.Sometimes she makes fun of the other girls about the way they look in their body shape and they feel really hurt.We sometimes try to make fun of her but when that happens, she leaves the group and then comes back again. What kind of friend is this?Advice please!!!!!!!

This is not a friend in the true sense, this is a bully with poor self esteem who needs to make others feel bad to make herself feel better. As a group tell her that she is not welcome if this behavior and attitude continues.

Get used to this kind of behaviour because you find it in the workplace too among adults who should know better.

Your friend has an inferiority complex. She feels inferior to all of you girls so she tries to balance things by trying to make you feel worse - like her. She's trying to knock your confidence so she can take a dominant social position in your group.

This is a bizarre behaviour pattern. She is competing with everyone and comparing herself to everybody. She doesn't like what she finds in herself - though that's more about her thoughts and feelings than what is on the outside. She then sees all the positive things about you other girls and resents you.

Honestly, the best way of dealing with this is to not allow her back in to your group of friends when she leaves the group and tell her why without being bitchy. This may sound nasty but she will continue like this until it's in her interest to behave herself. She may just become a bitter, resentful, nasty woman as she grows older but either way you'll be happier without her. I'd be less concerned about her feelings and more concerned about not allowing her to hurt you and your friends.

She will only make you all unhappy rather than you being able to make her happy. She's responsible for her feelings and you are responsible for your own.

Don't get in to the pattern of accepting people's nasty behavior or you'll be accepting it all your life

The answer: She is not a friend.
She sounds very insecure to me, and if she keeps on treating you and other people this way, tell her that you would rather hang out around people who cared for others, not someone who makes fun of them. I bet your friends will follow your lead, and hopefully this girl will realize what she has done wrong. If not just leave her, and next time she makes fun of someone, stand up for them, show her you are not going to sit back and watch her do that anymore.

Good luck, and God Bless xx
