IF it's true people want to beat you up then there is little you can do that will change that. Most people are probably not even slightly interested who you go out with. Carry on about your business and hope nothing will happen. It was better to be honest and say no saving upset later.

Did you want to go out with her or not. If you did just ask her out, and if not ignore them,try not to be interested by that
