Would the post office be a good option? I do not mind if it takes long to reach the receiver.

I personally would use my bank to transfer money abroad, as I trust them the most!

You need to send an International Payment, sometimes referred to as a Telegraphic Transfer. They range in price from £10 to £40 depending on how fast you want money to arrive in beneficiaries account.

My bank, the RBS/NatWest do a Budget/Relay payment service which costs £10 only and gets money there withing 5-6 working days.

I prefer the bank method, as sometimes the beneficiaries bank will charge them for receiving a payment. When you send it you chosse to pay all charges (OUR); you pay sending charge and beneficiary pays their bank charge (SHA) or beneficiary pays all charges (BEN). Also, UK banks tend to have deals with foreign banks so charges are lower.

I also favour my bank for sending foreign payments, as if anything does go wrong, there are set down procedures for amending said payments!

Hope this helps.

The post office do a money gram service where the money is available at the other end within a couple of hours, or send it special delivery, it can't go missing if it is registered ;)
