I hate to tout the Burton name because so many people think it is all hype and marketing, but I really love my Burton Snowboard pants.

The fabric is really thick but moves with you better than GoreTex which tends to be stiff and noisy. The seat and knees are doubled and there are mid-pant vent zippers to cool you when it is warm without unzipping all the way to the boot.

As far as staying warm, I would suggest nice expedition grade underwear - when it is warm don't wear them and when it is really cold put them underneath. Layering is always better and will keep you drier.

Good Luck

I've had a lot of different pants over 14 years but the best ones I've ever owned were two pairs of MissionSix pants. It's really high quality all the way across the board from the critically taped seams to the durability of the fabric. Inner cuff lace hook, vents, extra material on the butt and knees, and lots more. Hands down the best and they've lasted through some really long seasons. The only other pair that I've ever had worth mentioning were a pair of high end Sessions pants which were also quite good.

But remember, no matter how good the pant is, it's primary job is to keep you dry and not get shredded when you fall. The insulation is secondary. (And usually less to allow versatility for different riding conditions.) The key is good layering. Pick up a pair of UnderArmor cold gear pants or something similar for those days that it's that cold.

Betty Rides-I live in Washington and go snowboarding every weekend and they are great! I also went to Whistler...not once was I cold! The pants/jacket are insulated very well but also breathe well and are very water resistant!

Of course I wear my Capellini underneath!
