the answer is 0.7

1-0.2-0.1=0.7

I was looking at the answers on the wrong page!

P( 1 < X ≤ 3)
= P( X = 2) + P( X = 3)
= 0.3 + 0.4
= 0.7

anyway, after you sort out what the question is asking, just LIST the values of x described by the conditions. (in my first interpretation, that would be 2,3,4.)

Then add up the probabilities of those values of x.
