I live in Florida and I am applying to a job and am wondering if my juvenile record will be seen and how to answer the following question:
Have you been convicted of a crime in the last ten years?
I got my juvenile record for shoplifting. Do I answer yes or no since I was a juvenile and I am 17 now. Thanks to anyone who can help.

You can either lie (and hope you don't get caught) or tell the truth.
Have you been convicted of a crime in the last ten years? - Yes you have, shoplifting. If you lie and get caught you will be in worse shape than if you were honest.

Since you are still a juvenile your record is not sealed. I do not know if it will show up on a background check or not.

You should always maintain honesty, although your juvenile records have been sealed. I have a brother who just went into law enforcement, took him a while on account of the fact that he did hold a juvenile record. So it is better being safe than sorry. We all make mistakes, it is part of growing up.

In many states, a juvenile record is sealed when you become an adult and is only re-opened in the event of adult crimes that may be related to your childhood infractions.

You should be OK to go, though, you could check with the courts and see if they have sealed your record. If you are still a minor you may still have an open record.

Good luck.
