In theory, it could......but why have your ace pitch every 6 days instead of 5?

There is such a thing as too much rest. Most pitchers will say that they lose their edge if they have too many days in a row without throwing and that throwing on the side is not a good enough substitute. You also have now taken away a roster spot from the bullpen or the position players.
English note:
"your right I did spell it wrong. but you know what, I know how to spell World Series."
This should be:
You're right; I did spell it wrong. But you know what? I know how to spell "World Series."
If you're going to defend yourself, you can do better.

A few teams in the past actually used a six man rotation at times, usually in the hot summer months where they have a long stretch of games without a day off. There have been plenty of studies in recent years and four days rest between starts is fine. So teams will use their five best pitchers to start and the sixth will go to long relief, which is what you will see with the Red Sox next year.

I saw that, too, today. Interesting. But you'll either short change your bullpen or your bench one player. Early in the season you don't even need 5 starters, muchless 6. But considering Beckett has a history of injury, Schilling is older and somebody else is bound to get injured for a little bit of time having 6 may not be bad. Chances are, though, they'll end up with 5 - either someone will be injured or someone will just pitch badly and get demoted to the pen.

JG, your an idiot, Sawx Fan spelled Buckholtz better then you did moron.
Yes,a 6 man rotation would work.Give em more rest. But for Beckett and Dice it might be hard, there better on 3-5 days rest max.

As a Red Sox Fan, I'd say no to that...
Pitchers need there regular rest to many days in between could give them a bad outting...
Beckett
Schilling
Dick K
Wakefield
Lester
Don't worry Bucholtz will have his days next year... he's the guy of the future... he will be a starter i just don't think he will be the regular 5 next year...

Yes, but let Beckett go on regular rest and let the other 5 rotate between the other slots.

they would cover the whole week, because they usually get 1 day off, so they would only pitch once a week, with exceptions of double headers.
The only problem isn't that one more man on the roster?

it would increase the longevity of the players, but then again Beckett wouldn't like it.... he wouldnt want to sit an extra day.
