If you are just looking for simplicity and ease of use, I think the Ortovox F1 is a good all around analog transciever.

You didn't say if you are using it to search, but I assume you want it mostly for a transmitter when skiing out of bounds or backcountry. The multi-antenna digital versions have a lot more features (especially in search mode) but this one has been a standard for many years.

Sorry for my english, I am swiss.
The best one is just this one you understand how to use. I think if you buy a new one it is good quality on every brand, but if you dont know how to handle it, the best one cannot help, thats the main thing.
I have a ortovox, I am happy with it, but I am even more happy until now I never had it to use in emergency.
Hope you understand what I mean
