Do I call the other candidate who won? Or, is it like in tennis where the winner jumps the net to extend a hand to the loser? Any advice?

You're not making this very easy. My opponent repeatedly attacked my character to my face and to my neighbors. He used misinformation and half-truths as the basis for his campaign. If I must be the one to call, can you offer any ideas on how to say, "Congratulations" without choking on the words? I have a very difficult time being insincere.

Thanks everyone.

Thanks to everyone, especially my fans. There is something really special about venting via friends who are WAY more sick and twisted than I am.

I did call ...around dinner time. No one picked up. I left a message offering my "best wishes" as he serves the city and expressed confidence he has abilities that will serve the city well. Haven't had a reply.

Simply put, Bill, if this individual had to drag your reputation through the mud in order to take the election, then you are well within your rights to not say a single thing to him. In the world of football fans, it's called the "Bill Bellichek Handshake". At the end of every game, coaches walk across the field to shake hands and congratulate each other on a game well played. New England Patriots coach Bill Bellichek walks across the field and pretends like the entire opposing team, coach included, is no longer there. Bottom line: Screw him. And I'm sincere when I say that. No one would think anything less of you if you were to avoid the guy altogether on the basis of a dirty campaign.
Do NOT make the same mistake I did, however. It turns out that coating your opponent in feathers, tying him up so that he is unable to move, and then informing everyone that he is a pinata, is frowned on by the law. I may have still gotten away with it, If I had not have charged $10 per swing with an aluminum baseball bat. Add racketeering and now I'm writing this inside San Quentin.

Incidentally, Bill, if it makes you feel any better, we here on YA know your true character, and some of us like you anyway. I would even go so far as to say that Stacey b would have voted for you, even AFTER the pictures of you at the Neverland Ranch were mailed out by your opponent. What WERE you thinking, anyway?
But I digress. Just a little pick me up for you Bill. A show of support if you will. And now that you have some extra time on your hands, politics having been deleted from your itinerary, perhaps a joint business venture is in order? Eh? Call me, you hunk of white collar venture capitalist you! And think "Combustible sheep." I've got the patent pending.

Wow wow, I'm so sorry but on the other hand I want to congratulate you because if the climate is that seedy and the dirt is getting thrown around like that you're probably better off steering clear anyway. I know it's a let down though, all the work you put into it. But here on YA you're still the commander and cheif!

Here's what you do:

"Hello Schmuckfeld? So you won... I'll bet you think it's all over eh? Well you're right! it's all over for you Schmuckfeld, cause you screwed up! you didn't cover your *** and now you're gonna pay for what you did. Because I know you're little secret. Oh yeah, I know a-a-l-l about it Schmuckfeld. Oh yes, I've been watching you and I saw some things Schmuckfeld. Some very interesting things. Things the local papers would be very interested in. Yes and you know what Schmuckfeld? ....JUST KIDDING!!!!! HAHAHA CONGRATULATIONS!!!! IT'S ALL YOU NOW BUDDY! GO GET 'EM TIGER HAHAHA! SORRY ABOUT THAT LITTLE PRANK I JUST COULDN'T RESIST HAHAHA I'M NOT GONNA SAY A WORD TO THE PRESS HAHA YOU'RE SECRET IS SAFE WITH ME!!!
Unless of course... ah nevermind, enjoy it while you can! (click)

I know you will probably pick Numbsain for best answer because he is spending what seems like a long time writing his answer and he has a way with words. But who cares about best answer this is Wow Bill were talking about you are like family and we all eagerly wait and watch for great and entertaining questions.

My first thought was why bother talking to him if he is going to lie and talk that way about our Billy then who cares. I think the truth will start to come out when he can't hold up to all the lies he has said about himself as well. He will probably go down for something.

I hope you take care and don't get down over this because you should have won but, maybe it's for the better. You should do something to put to use you creative talents and have a more fun line of work or at least side project.

I wish you the best since you are the best and please try to have some fun!

If the results are contested, well perhaps you can along with supporters ask for a recount. If you just lost in a fair election though, congratulate your opponent and if you want to run again, start planning for your next campaign ahead of time, and maybe you will win next time.

Call or visit ur opponent to congratulate him or her. Then put a brief thank you in the newspaper (Letter to the Editor) to all those that supported u and all those that voted in the election.

Hope that is helpful. Better luck next election!

you congratulate the person that won. if you have something that you really think they should push for tell them another time. then tomorrow morning sit down figure out how many votes you got and where and then you know where to target the next time. then you should have a better idea of what you need to do to win. its not only policies really you have to think of you have to think of your image, how you talk to people these are as important as anything

Congratulating him is the mark of a good sport. You don't need to kiss him and get misty-eyed.....A firm handshake is in order.....Be true to your better self, my friend.....That makes you a winner, in my book.
