are you in the uk or the usa cos no offence but i do think young people expect more over there. well im in the uk and we got my partners sis who is 17 some betty boop pjs, a bath set, make up bags, a betty boop diary, and lots of little pretty things. we got my ten year old sis silk pjs, a few doctor who things, a nice robe, two cami sets and im getting her some shower jelly from lush as she loves the stuff but my mum is a super scrooge and wont buy her any.
basically, try to go for things that look young but appropriate to her age, music maybe?

Don't be afraid to wimp out and buy a gift certificate - people that age change their tastes as fast as their socks, and it gives them the power to choose which is fun. I used to have to beg for gift certificates because my family thought it was a cop out.
