Because the internet opens a new frame for people to make themselves in. Online you have the chance to reinvent yourself away from family, friends, co-workers, region and what ever other social stigma exist in your everyday life. This is why some people can be huge bigots and racists, and some can be more open minded and friendly. They have no one to judge them, well, no one that they have to see face to face. For example, maybe in real life your friends or family would judge you for say befriending a homosexual, but online you can befriend them without fear of criticisms from that same group. That's just my take on it. I try to be the same person on and off the computer. I don't always make it.

It is my opinion that the people of diverse races, cultures, and backgrounds who get along on the Internet are the same ones who get along in person. A bigot is a bigot whether in cyber space or town centre. And, open-minded people are generally open-minded no matter what the venue.

I've actually noticed the exact opposite. I've never had to deal with a racist incident personally but I'm constantly dealing with it online where people feel free to be themselves.

to carry on an exchange being courteous makes more sense than being nasty

being courteous to a person is not the same as liking a person

"Internet life" I like black people have no problem with them.
"Real Life" I can't stand Tameka in accounting with her big lips..blah blah.
