The problem is your friend is stuck with a catch 22. He could be arrested either way. If he is summoned for jury duty and doesn't show up, the sheriff will come knocking on his door. What I would advise your friend to do is to get that warrant taken care of ahead of time and go to jury duty.

The Cops / Marshal will come & arrest you if you do not appear for jury duty. Even if you are not selected for a jury, You must go when you get the notice. Unless you have the Qualifying exemptions listed on the notice.

Normally, traffic tickets are not criminal offenses. (Unless its DWI). Therefore he most likely will not have an issue.
He should merely clear up the traffic ticket situation before jury duty. Call DMV and find out how he can resolve the problem. Volunteering to pay fines always looks good.

He very well could! Of course he can also neglect to appear for jury duty and increase his problems!

Tell your friend to take care of his ticket issues and he no longer has to worry about peering over his shoulder all the time worrying about the cops!

If he does not attend, he will just have another warrant out for him. So that would just increase the likelihood that the sheriff will come knocking on his door some day, won't it?

I have worked cases as a trial consultant where the judge got so angry over potential jurors not showing up that he sent out the deputies to their homes on the spot to round them up and bring them in to face him. It can happen.

He'll just have anothe rbench warrant issued against him. then his problems will really zoom when he is pulled over again.
