American greed.....that's why the rich/poor gap is growing

Because millions of people pay to watch what they do. Do millions of people pay to watch an accountant punch numbers?
In contrast to that though, some high-ranking accountants can make up to 300k/year, which is the same as a 3rd string Superbowl team player. So it works out if you're good at what you do.
Average athletes get paid not a lot, and mediocre actors/actresses next to nothing. It's a big risk industry.

Athletes and movie stars are deserving of the money they make because of the potential of negative attention that surround them and the microscope the media places on their lives these days.

because we as a public are willing to overpay to attend sporting events and movies. if the general public collectivly would ignore these events they would eventually have to restructure the cost of attending the event and that in turn would make the ridiculous salaries they command drop. I enjoy sporting events and going to the movies but truly feel that all these people are vastly overcompensated.

Because society's values are so screwed up & this is because too many people don't have a life of their own. Get out & experience the world don't be a couch potato.
