Eylul'cugum hi,
I loved philosophy and i still read a lot of books:-)
The most important thing about it is that : you should stop thinking of it as a Lesson. Philosophy is life. Try to see it like this. Don't memorise just try to understand and make some researches of your own besides school books then you will really like it.

Try to remember that philosophy has it roots in the very mundane and originate from simple questioning such as 'what is the difference between animals and humans?'

Try first to ask to yourself the question the philosopher you are studying respond to, and see what correspondence, divergence, good argument, or failing you can find in both answer.

Basically, a philosopher's job is to provide an enlightening view of the world, which they can prove with logical arguments.

So, if you want to understand philosophy, the basic is to understand what is logic. Then you can start learning about concepts and terminology which may be specific to a system.

The way I made it through philosophy in college was to try and see where it fit in my life. If we studied Aristotle's theories, I tried to see if there was something in my life where I felt the same.

I also didn't limit myself to the book. I took notes over what I understood, and I talked to people about what I didn't, to see if they had a different viewpoint than mine.

I even began to like some of what I was studying, particularly when I could find a relationship between the philosophy and my own experiences and beliefs.

Don't push yourself too hard. You'll become very frustrated, and I don't think anyone can study like that.

My dear...
Asking this question and sharing your ideas and "doubts" about this issue with others, makes you already a real philosopher...
Studying and remembering is not an itinerary, it's just an additional equipment.
