Actually steak, even if it is rare is OK to eat. Any bacteria will be on the outside of the steak and it will be killed by searing, or BBQing it. It is the ground beef that you have to be careful with because if there is bacteria on the beef, when it is ground up it gets mixed in. Ground beef should be cooked to at least 165 degrees. Chicken and turkey should be cooked to 180 degrees (No Pink)

This will give you a list of foods that are and are not safe to eat during pregnancy. This list was given to me by a nutritionist when I was pregnant last year.
You CAN have caffeine while pregnant. I read up on the recent studies and my OB/GYN confirmed it that 2-3, 8oz cups of regular coffee or up to 6 colas (I would not recommend the colas though) are safe amounts of caffeine to consume.

You can eat fish while ttc, just keep it to a minimum for tuna, and no fish that are high in mercury (i.e. swordfish). Eating a healthy, well balance meal is always a good thing! See your doctor for prenatal vitamins or folic acid - always good to be on before pregnant! Also, caffeine is ok - just have 1 cup of coffee, or just 1 pop if you need caffeine. Good luck!
