Good luck! The laws, in general, favor the woman. My husband had custody of his son and still his wife continued to draw alimony--even after we were all married to other people! A year later, we got stuck with her tax debt after she filed bankruptcy.
Not a thing we could do about it.

If you are still listed as a co-owner or on the loans/credit cards then you are indeed responsible for the debts. You may catch a break in the court order(s) if they so state she is to assume responsibility for the things. See a lawyer to find out for sure.

Get back in front of the judge for a contempt hearing. Ask him to enforce the orders. This may or may not work. You may have to pay these debts and then try to recoup from her through the courts later.

You should be able to send them certified copies of the divorce decree showing that SHE was responsible for those things, and they have to let you off the hook because legally she was held responsible.
You can also have your attorney notify the court that she is not paying, which means she's in contempt of court.

if you are divorced, and your name is NOT on the loans for these items, then no one can force you to pay for anything... on the other hand, if you are a party named on loans, you probably have to fork it over.
talk with an attorney to stop these people from harassing you... especially if the loans do not belong to you.

Yes, legally if your name was attached to a debt and the other party files for bankruptcy, you are next in line to recuperate that debt.
Wish I had better news for you.

that is because you co-signed the loans- big mistake ! never co sign to anyone .now the creditors are after you. take her to court , she needs to be liable for herself, be responsible . i
know that she did this on purpose. that shows you can't trust nobody. my advice for couples ... if you have a bank account,
bills, loans.. please make sure it is in your name only, that way you will not have a problem in the future. trust me , it works, it's better to be safe than sorry.

Did you have your name removed from these loans? If not you are still liable.
