Rumors are circulating out of San Diego that both Philip Rivers and LT walked into GM AJ Smith's office and demanded that he get rid of Norv Turner and promote LB coach Ron Rivera to Head coach. Rivers and LT are fed up with Norv Turners coaching philosophy and his inabililty to motivate his players. Do you think the Chargers should comply with Rivers' demand???

Regardless of what Rivers says, it should be done for the good of the franchise.

Well, I think Rivers and LT have a point! I mean I cannot believe that they hired this guy in the first place! I mean look at what he did to the Raiders after Gruden left for Tampa Bay! This should be a No Brainer! The Chargers are way too good of a team to have some one at the helm who has no Idea what they are doing! If I where Rivers, I would want him out of there too! He is doing nothing but hindering their chances of gettin a superbowl title! Good coaching is a very important tool for winning a championship! I'm with LT and Rivers in this! I myself am a Colts fan, but you have probably the best running back in the NFL, and a very good quarterback! Not to mention talented defensive players! Why waste that talent? The Chargers are way too good for this coach! They need to find someone much better! Marty was clearly better than Norv! BOTTOM LINE!

Why was he hired in the first place? Nothing personal against Mr. Turner, but he has proven that he cannot be a head coach in the NFL. He is a brilliant assistant who probably interviews well, tells the GM that he has learned lessons along the way and now will be an excellent head coach. And the the powers that be buy into that. Greg Williams had a brilliant interview in Buffalo, got the job and proved to be very mediocre at best. He might possibly succeed Gibbs in Washington, but there is something you can tell about the man...he's not a head coach (check Mike Malarkey also formerly of Bills and moving down coaching depth chart in Miami). I agree with star players who say they cannot play for certain people...they need to play for people they can believe in. Don't chastise the stars for being honest.

Chargers thought they had enough talent the team would run itself
Marty has to be sitting at home rolling on the floor laughing is a$$ off .

I am a Pats Fan and i was upset when they hired Norv Turner
that team has alot of talent ....and Norv could screw up a wet dream ...his record proves that

Well in my opinion Phillip Rivers has absolutely no right to demand anything at all as he has only one year of success and isn't nearly as important as LaDainian Tomlinson is. Anyway it isn't all Norv Turner's fault that the Chargers aren't doing all that great this season. They have a tougher schedule this year and the players aren't executing the way that they should either when called upon.

They are discovering now in San Diego what we discovered in DC = that Norv is an over rated retard.
Norv stayed because Jack Kent Cooke was trying to save face by accidentaly firing Rich Petibone in favor of Norv.
Norv was NEVER a genius. Wow, he told Aikman to hand the ball to Emmitt behind that monster O-line 30+times a game. He did the same with Gore. HARDLY genius material.

Can't motivate his players... that is BS. The fact that they are not playing well has to do with Turner, but also with them as well. Do you really think that his philosophy made them give up 300 yards to Peterson.

Do you think that his philosophy makes Rivers not be able to throw to anyone on the field except for Gates. If this is true, the players need to accept some responsibility for them playing like garbage also. They cost Marty his job last year when they lost a game that they had in the playoffs also.

Well I think this rumor is silly in a sense. On the other hand I think that the Chargers SHOULD fire Norv Turner now.

They shouldn't have hired him in the first place. He's one of the best offensive coordinators ever, and one of the worst head coaches ever. Cam Cameron thinks Norv Turner is a bad coach.

I think they should comply with LT's demand. LT is far more important than Rivers, and if LT and Rivers both are saying this, then they really don't have a choice but to do it. I mean if the coach has lost the players to the point that the best player on the team and the QB are going to the GM to demand the coach be fired...he'll never regain the team.

of course, Norv Turner is a horrible Head Coach. i'm sure it would work better though if GM AJ Smith was fired. why in the world did he fire Marty Schottenheimer?
