I think with the many recent findings of so many people that have been wrongly convicted it is in every ones best interest that the people are treated well while incarcerated. Not to mention that not every prisoner is kept in prison for life. It would not be beneficial to society for them to be released even more hardened than before they went in. If the humanity is abused out of them, then God help us when they are released back onto the streets.

The US treatment of prisoners in Gitmo is against international law and the laws on torture. That legitimizes the actions of terrorists and enemies of the states treating US personnel in the same manner.

The US is seen as acting in a criminal manner in it's treatment of foreign prisoners and and stories of abuse to prisoners in the US are widespread.

So if you think it is OK to abuse prisoners why stop there? Why not allow anyone in the street to abuse you? Beat you, kidnap and incarcerate you?

The moment you start thinking that it is OK to treat anyone in an inhumane way you have lost your humanity and grip on reality and that could well lead to your incarceration!!!

Because most are innocent. The court system in the USA is not fair .There is no justice for the people in our courts ,only victims .(Justice >an impartial judgement based on truth fact and reason ) Is it justice when prosecutors and police are allowed to by or blackmail witnesses ,with less or more severe sentences . Is it justice when police are allowed to make false statements ,with immunity from prosecution. Is it justice when police confiscate some ones finances when charged leaving them defensless and forced to use a govt. paid public defender. Is it justice when judges who know police can lie ,take their statements as truth over a defendant. The constitution says juries are allowed to judge both the facts of a case and the law and punishment for that offense .The final safety for the people to protect each other from govt. and control the laws they live by .Is our constitutional right to (Jury nullification ).If a jury doesn't believe a law is fair or the punishment for that offense is just .Its our duty to find the defendant not guilty even if he did commit the offense. It was put in our constitution so the people could controll bad laws passed by govt. Judges no longer tell juries of this constitutional right and will often not let some one on the jury if they know of this right. If you are on a jury don't let the court know you are aware of this right .You are not required to follow the judges orders to judge only the fact .You have a right to vote your conscience on the fairness of the law. That is why Jury Nullification is our right .If judges were really impartial .Why wouldn't they want people to judge the laws they have to live by? The founders of our govt.used the common rule on deciding the fairness of our laws .Ask yourself has the defendant victimized any one or damaged anyones property .If not the law is not just and he should be aquitted .For some one to commit a crime there has to be a victim. The govt. claims to be victim in many cases ,however a victim has to be capable of feeling pain and sorrow ,so it is not .200 people on death row to be executed DNA proved innocent . Whos responsible for the people murdered in the name of the law

I would say that if someone is rightfully convicted of a heinous crime, I couldn't care less how they are treated. The only problem lies in the fact that not everyone in prison has been rightfully convicted. If you were falsely accused of something horrible and wound up in prison, how would you feel about unjust treatment? If it wasn't for that question in my mind, I'd say death row to murderers, rapists, and pedophiles for sure!!

Because the vast majority of all inmates will be released someday back into society. Do you want them to have experienced consistent ill treatment while incarcerated only to "let loose" upon innocent society upon release?? Not to mention that the caliber of a society is reflected in how it treats its most vulnerable citizens. Those whose freedom we take are among our most vulnerable at that point.

I don't know that you need to worry about that but there is human rights that are guaranteed for everyone whether you are a criminal or not.
Obviously the person incarcerated is there for breaking the law but they still deserve to be fed and have the ability to not fear getting beaten or abused.

If you as a prison guard you should. They are human beings! They are doing time for their crime, they don't need double punishment. If you are a guard, you should question why you are in the first place, asking a q like this!

I think if they are worried about being treated bad, they should behave themselves and not go to prison.
