I was 23 when I started college, and I went to a local community college even though I could have started at a larger 4-year college. I really encourage you to think of doing that--the student body average age on CCs is older and you will feel more comfortable getting started.
You might want to try taking half-time classes (2-3) the first semester, just to get your feet wet before you jump in :) You will need to get used to studying and taking tests again, but one semester should do it.
I would not stay in a dorm, but rather find off-campus housing. You are probably too "old" (meaning mature, not old-old) for the dormitory routine (most upperclassmen do NOT stay in dorms). You can join clubs and get your social activities in other ways.
Congratulations on your decision to go back to school! Keep up the good work, and you will be successful!

Its not too late to go to college but I would think twice about staying in the dorm. Just rent an apartment close to the dorm. Remember you'd be in a freshman dorm with a bunch of kids

You could certainly go, and you may do fine in a dorm. Ask for an older roommate, or see if you can be the RA - resident advisor. They often get compensated for being the dorm babysitter, maybe by getting free room and board.
You could also see if you could get into a room in the graduate students dorm, if the school has one. You'd be more likely to find students your own age and maturity level there.
Finally, look around at the bulletin boards at the school, or ask at the housing office to find lists of students looking for a roommate. You could often find someone to share an apartment with offcampus.

Not too old to go back to school, but I would get an off campus apartment. I'd never be able to handle living in a dorm after the age of 21.

You are definitely not too old. I am 26, and by my age, you could be done if you try hard!!!
Also, when I was in college at 18, we had a couple friends over 21 who were also freshman living in the dorms. Just be youthful, have fun and study hard!!! You are in your prime right now!!!

The way i see it is, you are going to school to further your education. Although, there is the likelihood you will be forming bonds with some of the younger students, your main focus is to become a life long learner. My advice would be once you start don't stop until you have reached your goal, because one of the hardest things to do is get back into it once you have left for some time. Just do it and keep your eyes on the prize.

No go back to college you won't feel too out of place it's not like high school after a couple of weeks you will probably forget that you are older. You may find that you are not very old at all. Go back and have fun!!!!

I went back to school (second career) at 35. It was wonderful.
You are an adult learner and would likely be better off in an off campus apartment than in a dorm.

No, there are even older adults who go back to college, you will notice that the age range in college is a wide variety. It's never too late to go to college.
