I can't. Definitely can't. That doesn't amount to saying that I'm addicted to chocolates. I surely am not addicted to them either. I can resist 'em. But gorging on chocolates once in a while is a nice change from having those usual sweets dipped in desi ghee which become too sweet for my taste buds sometimes. It helps soothe pain if it's a physical pain. Because it releases God-knows what chemicals in our brains to divert our attention from pain. So during that time, I sometimes eat it and when my brother gives me chocolates on Rakshabandhan(An Indian Festival) then it's a treat to binge on. Otherwise, during the normal course of day-today routine, I don't eat as many chocolates. Completely avoiding them isn't the right thing to do especially when it has been scientifically proven, that dark chocolates are good for heart so why not have a big heart to accept them! ;)

I see chocolate as more of a perk than an essential.

It keeps the peace in our house! Every 28 days I buy chocolate for my wife and I'm allowed to live another 28 days.

Not essential, but would really miss it if I couldn't have any. I feel sad for those who are allergic.
