They haven't done it yet, but I must say that I am amazed at how good New England is playing and am starting to believe they will be the one the break the miami record.

I think it is pretty selfish of Shula calling it Bonds-like as they are beating the best teams in the NFL.

That Spygate issue was filming the first quarter of the first game this season and the guy was removed. There was nothing about trying to steal signals as that is probably common place; you are just not supposed to use a camera.

I hated the Pats when they did it, but they have really changed my opinion with this run they are on. It is like nothing I have ever seen.

And I am an Eagles fan, not a pats fan... Still they cheated us out of a superbowl win. :(

the reporter asked him a question
he answered honestly

how about giving him credit for not being one of those politically correct jerks who says what everybody wants to hear....

just because people disagree with his opinion doesn't mean he shouldn't have said it

Vrabel was the one who sounded like the biggest idiot out of that whole deal

I'm not saying I agree with him or that I think he should be opening his mouth about the suject

No, I think he is entitled to feel a little bitter that the sport that he loves so much is a little tainted now. I don't believe that Shula thinks it has any effect on the current records in the NFL. Even he said Brady doesn't need any extra help. I think his whole point is that it makes even less sense to cheat when you are already on top.

I think people are making way too big of a deal about going undefeated, especially considering the armpit of a division NE plays in.

I also think Belichick's biggest offense in this whole thing has been his attitude about it, and his saying he misinterpreted a rule, when we all know the guy is too smart to misinterpret a rule. It was almost the same attitude Bill Clinton had in his famous "I did not have sex with that woman" speech. Instead of admitting he was wrong and shouldn't have broken a rule, he has been walking around angry and cocky and rubbing everyone's faces in his anger.

Yes, Shula is being selfish, silly and mostly childish. Though he never say it should have the asterick he said could.

Also Both with these Pats and with Bonds the asterick would be innappropriate. The * was meant to designate an achievment that was done LEGALLY but under rules that made it "easier" as in the Season record for HR with 8 more games.
Bonds and Pats are allegedly under illegal circumstances and if an asterick were to be applied to the undefeated season it should go next to '72 Dolphins who went undefeated for 17 games, any one doing it now would be harder because would require 2 more games.

He is being a bit of a baby about it. There is no reason to put an asterik next to the record if they get it. I can not say that the NFL would not do that, but look at Barry Bonds and them talking about putting an asterik next to his historic baseball record.

The Patriots did get caught cheating, but this was in the beginning of the season, and it has had no impact on the rest of the season. They do seem to be slowing down, and will end up losing a game at some point, but if they make it that far, then why add anything to the record.

when the Pats won 21 straight games (between 2 seasons) Shula was the first to point out that his 17 wins were in 1 season and that the Pats shouldn't get any "credit" for a longer winning streak. The guy's a washed up ego maniac. The fact that he celebrates every year that his 17 in a season hasn't been broken tells you an awful lot about him.

Don Shula and all the other 1972 Dolphins should just shut up. Their act is getting old.

I think he needs to shut his mouth. Does he honestly think that there will never be a team that will have a perfect season ever again? He's making an *** out of himself. The Pats are playing perfect football right now because they are a very good team and they deserve to be 9-0.

I'm not a Pats fan, but it seems like Shula is already preparing an excuse for why his old Dolphins team is better than the current Patriots team.

It's nothing but sour grapes from an old man, and he's cheapening his legacy with such statements.

He sounds more like one of the obnoxious players who like to tote around their champagne and belittle any team that threatens their record. I am so sick of these Dolphins, what happened to celebrating acheivements with class. Even Hank Aaron did it with Barry Bonds if he wants to make a reference to Bonds.

I am sure Shula has been asked this before. I find it funny it comes out after they beat the Colts. Now there is a chance they can do it and this scares the classless Dolphins who quite honestly are just getting plain annoying. But they will use anything to keep their little club going.

Don Shula has a point, the Pats deserve an asterisk. who knows if they still tape the videos? Once a cheat, always a cheat!

Shula is an old man who has a big head, like bill walton. When talking to either one, a person should just nod their head in agreement and realize that both of them have no sense of rationality
