Me and my friend are going to Vegas (4 days vacation), and we have to go to Aspen after that (to work).
By airplane we're going to spend $130 each to go to denver plus we have to rent a car to go to aspen.
I was searching at mapquest.com and it says it's gonna take 9 hours by car, which is ok because we will save a lot of money.

The problem is, I'm not sure how the roads are, so do you think it's ok to go by car?!
Did you ever try or do you know somebody that did?
It's gonna be in December. (I don't know about the traffic)

Thank you very much!

The roads going from Vegas to Aspen won't be any worse than the roads from Denver to Aspen. From Vegas take I15 to I70 to Glenwood Springs. From Denver, take I70 to Glenwood Springs. In Glenwood Springs take Rt82 into Aspen. Just don't go on Independence Pass and you will be fine.

The drive through Nevada and Utah will be about as boring as driving gets.

Denver To Aspen Drive Time

Traffic is only really bad during the weekends before the lifts open and after they close. You might just get a shuttle from DIA rather then renting a car, it might be cheaper.

Vegas is only about 14 hours from Denver and less to Aspen, why not drive straight to Apsen?

The people who have suggested that this is the flight time versus the driving time apparently have never driven between Las Vegas and Houston (and, therefore, realize that even via the interstate, it's hard to travel nearly 1,500 miles in 6.1 hours), or they don't realize that Tucson is actually further east than Las Vegas and is closer to Houston, not further away. To the person asking the question, you're going to have to give more context as to what you mean by your question. If I were to venture a guess as to the first stat for each city, it's the approximate flight time for a non-stop flight between those cities (e.g. 1.1 hours to fly from Los Angeles to San Francisco), but it's difficult to tell whether this even is what is meant by this, given the incomplete information you've provided, and it's impossible to tell what is really meant by the second stat.

Depending on the car that you will use as well as the experience in driving that you and your partner will do fine. The roads are not bad the winter time in Utah and Colorado can have some challagenes ( Deer, Snow dirifts, etc.), but if you take your time and are not in a hurry it is a joyful ride, and you can have alot of fun. Remember their will be alots of big trucks driving as well on those roadways, so give alittel extra distance between friends.
