A local agengy paid the bulk of it via check. We actually paid less than the regular rent. But it is what they sued for. We paid it. I can't move rght now. Even if they won't fix things up around here.

You need to pay current or the issue will occur again. You need to remain current. If there are things that the law requires them to fix you need to provide them notice in writing. Your state may or may not allow you to fix them and deduct them from your rent, you will need to search for the land lord tenant rules in your state.
