Yes, I know this, and the speed may not necessarily be 60mph. It depends on what state you live in. If you live in a state with absolute speed limits, then 55mph is 55mph. If you live in a presumed speed limit state, then you can legally travel above the speed limit if the speed is reasonable and prudent. Such is the case when maintaining a speed with the flow of traffic. In a presumed speed limit state, if the traffic flow is 70mph while in a 55mph zone, you are not breaking the law.
Most people are too ignorant to know this, but I know my way around a traffic court.

Actually that's NOT true... a speed limit of 55 means that you go no faster than 55 under optimal traffic / climate conditions.
However, some traffic officers will allow for *some* leeway in the calibration of your speedometer (thus they PROBABLY won't ticket you for going 60 in a 55-zone... however they are perfectly justified in doing so)

I just drive 80. In Minnesot athey dont always give you taht 5 mile over rule anymore though.. I have an "invisible to police" mini van, I havent (knock wood) gotten pulled over and I am always speeding!
