I have a 94 probe, and this other guy has a 93 camaro. We are thinking about trading even, but he says that the axle bearings need to be replaced.. What exactly is this currently hurting on the car and how much do you think it would take to get fixed?

The guy just said it needs axle bearings so what can i expect?

Don't trade.

if Axle bearings are not replaced in time, they can ruin the axles and the housings.

Plus, how are you sure that's the real problem, or if he just told you that to "explain" a noise that is really a more expensive trouble?

Buy a car that has no problems.

Need more info. If rear axle bearings the car would not be driveable and there would be oil on the inside of the rear tires. If tires have what appears to be oil on them check closely. It is probably brake fluid. If front wheel bearings the car is not driveable but fix is much easier. Very rare for rear wheel bearings to go bad.

bad idea, if the bearings are real bad, then chances are that it jacked up the hub and maybe the spidel. All of this could run u about 1000 bucks per axle

It can hurt your gas mileage and cuase abnormal wear on your tire. Each wheel bearing will cost from 10-30 dollars. They are not to hard to install but it will take some time if you do it yourself. Otherwise probably 2 hours if you have a shop do all four.

well the longer u put it off to replace the bearings the worse it will get and then u will end up having a bad wheel vibration at highway speeds, a loud grinding noise, and wearing of the tires, it would be best to get them replaced asap, not sure how much u will have to pay for them but they can become costly

Have him fix them......then trade if you want to. They aren't that expensive to do. He may be trying to hide another problem.
