One day a guy called from a phone company and convince us to take a long distance phone plan? then he told us that we will receive a call from their company soon after we can activate the plan, but we havent received any phone calls from that company and later 3 months, we received a bill saying that we are using their service, and ask us to pay the bill, we called them and spoke to them that we are not even aware about that we are in long distance plan, so we made a request and ask them to cancel the plan , soon after two months again samy problem they were sending us the bill, in that case as a genuine consumer, what i have to do, i have not even signed any agreement with them, all because of a anonymous phone call from that company? please can anyone help me to solve this.

You have to call your local phone service provider-in my case it was Verizon-and tell them to disconnect the long distance service provider for you - in my case it was MCI. And NEVER get suckered into ordering that sort of service by phone solicitation again. I did that and was promised a lower as used rate-and the guy put me on international long distant calling plan costing me allot more. I called and canceled several times and was never informed that my local service provider needed to be called in order to have it disconnected.

Contact your states' Attorney General, and fraud hotline, and give them the info. That scam happened to me a few years ago.
And depending on how vindictive you are, you may even be able to take them to court!
