For me, in China there were no gangs, liberal or conservative hate speech, the weirdos that I met here in the USA, political corectness (Loser's speech), a safer night life, the general fear and cynicism that we have here. On the other hand it is hard to buy a car in China for an ex-pat, geting a drivers license is hard. the pharmacies' choice of medicine is way different. Buying a motorcycle is not too hard, but registering it is hard.....

I am now an expat living in Vietnam. There are things that cause a little misgivings. I can't legally own a home or car. In most instance's I get over charged for any and all transactions. But... I don't pay taxes to anyone any more. I don't worry about getting mugged or ripped off at all. Basically the stress factor is so much less here that I have no desire to go back to the States. And one big plussss++++
I don't see Bush's goofy face lying on the TV every 5 minutes.
