I just saw a question about immigration (illegals from Mexico vs. Canada) and while I did not agree with the questioner, a young lady's answer was something along the lines of "you are disgusting and I reported you". Since when did we report people for having a different view point? Last time I checked, we have freedom of speech! If someone isn't blatantly violating guidelines, don't report them! I found her comment more of a violation (insulting him) than his simple question which contained no curses, insults, or offensive language. I wonder when reporting people became a substitute for providing an intellegent, well thought out answer to a question that you don't agree with! If you can't handle opposing views, perhaps you should stick to the beauty section answering questions from 14 year olds like "Am I pretty enough to model?" Let's grow up, people!

Okay, the person gave up who they were. It's really sad. "I reported you neh neh neh neh NAH neh!" Again, there was nothing offensive about the question, and not liking American (while a little silly), is certainly NO VIOLATION!

Funny when you go to the violation board it's all, "What did I do" or "Why can't someone at Yahoo tell me what I did wrong". I figured sooner ar later, what goes around will come around. Different alliances will be formed and before you know it there will be no one on this site. Yahoo will then take action as advertizers want numbers and if no one is using it then the will not pay as much.

It is funny that the certain sides are getting together and soon there will be nobody. This seems to happen when you try and stop freedom of speech.

Starts with two at a school and grows and you never know someone may ask a question and no one hear to answer
it. It's sad. "What goes round, comes around.

As I have mentioned before is it fair that only a few know you can go back and vote for your answer on a question you have answered that is in the community "in voting". It would be fair if everyone knew they could go back on all their answered questions an vote for their answer or someone else. i have done it and voted for mine, others that i thought were better and in some cases for opposing answers (if logical). Once the word get's out then everyone will be going to "in voting" and vote for their own answers and then some of these folks with high "best answers" will fall. Take care.

The question you're alluding to was, indeed, insulting. Please don't pretend that it wasn't.

That being said, I have never reported anyone. I have always felt that being ignorant or desperately seeking attention and the approval of other like minded morons is sufficient 'punishment'. Besides, as you say, there is the whole free speech issue and free speech is a double edged sword. At times it works in your favor if you have a worth while point to make. At other times, as was the case here, it works against you since it illustrates, far better than I ever could, the sort of ignorant, immature and uneducated whack jobs that are attracted to the Socialist Party. I'm not trying to insult when I say that. I'm simply making both a literal and a factual point as I see it.

there ARE people who are sad enough to report others for having a different viewpoint, unfortunately...

I've reported people in the past who have personally attacked me with insults in their answers to my questions, or with vicious attacks through private message. But really, I've found over time that there's no point to reporting people on here. Many of them are crafty enough to make up a new account, come back on, and antagonize some more.

These people who are offensive do it mostly because they are attention whores. If you don't get baited by their questions and if you simply answer questions with your thoughts and facts, rather than your emotions, you'll be okay.

You need a thicker skin than most, to tolerate Y!A politics people. Maybe the way some people post their questions in a baiting manner is intentional. Maybe it's just them getting their thoughts out. But whatever it is, they're only words and it's difficult to tell their tone through typeface.

It is basic loss of civility that typically inundates any society that is in a protracted War.

Many people in America are realizing the increased level of violence in our society.

Don't worry it is normal for War to influence every aspect of life.

I've told people straight out their question was offensive and hateful - but didn't report them.... and then was reported for saying so. HAHAHA If you don't like their question or answer, have the nads to say so publically and not hide behind an anonymous "report".

Some people are REALLY touchy and it makes me sick that they report people just for disagreeing with them. I very seldom ever report anyone, but when I do, it's usually because the poster has insulted or threatened another poster (usually me), cloned another poster, or done obvious flaming. I have no problem with people who disagree with me and I welcome the opportunity to debate and discuss various issues. It's really a shame that some people abuse the community guidelines in order to have people with whom they disagree suspended. It's petty and childish!
