I'm going to challenge the liberal Dems in this forum to actually list all of Bushs 'oil buddies', the same buddies many of you all seem to believe exist.

List their EXACT SPECIFIC names.
List their EXACT SPECIFIC companies.
List their EXACT SPECIFIC positions with those companies.
List their EXACT SPECIFIC contracts where it proves that theyre associated with the Executive branch of our federal government.
List their EXACT SPECIFIC contracts where it proves that theyre associated with President Bush in any regards.

And please, no conspiracy crap about off-shore accounts or secret panel rooms installed at the WH.

All Yahoo Answers eyes are watching this one ; )

Apparently Flipper missed my 'no conspiracy theories' request. Oh well, I tried.

Unfortuantely Dizz, none of those links list any names of any man or woman who are linked, connected, contracted, et all to ANY form of business relationship with the Executive branch of the federal government.

By the way Dizz, I live here in Washington DC, and using the Post as a reference is like using Air America as a credible source for news.

Here's your list; It's a list of pioneers or rangers (big buck contributors to '00 and '04 campaigns) in the oil and energy industry.

http://tpj.org/portlets/pioneers/list-standard.jsp?searchid=12

Click on the names for the details re contracts.

You also might want to read this Washington Post article from '04.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A29142-2004May15.html

That should answer your question, although I'm guessing you'll find some illogical reason to discount it...

Vinny? You still there man?

EDIT; You read all the links? No you didn't. Do I have to do everything for you?

Letbetter & Jordan; Reliant received a $293,000 federal Veterans Affairs gas contract in fiscal 2002.

Alexander; FirstEnergy received $18 million in federal contracts in fiscal year 2002, led by electricity sales to the military.
The executive branch connection is a joke right?

In addition there are numerous cases where favor was curried by appointment to the EPA (to loosen air pollution regs), to backtrack on CO2 emission controls, etc. that have enriched his "energy buddies". Hopefully your not so obtuse to not see the obvious connection.

And if you automatically reject all Post stories out of hand without even reading them then why am I bothering to research a meaningful answer to your question?

Okay, I'm not going to name names, but I am going to say that you are being a little naive to think that current politicians, REPUBLICANS AND DEMOCRATS, are not completely in the hands of special interest groups. I think the proof is that Bush was very reluctant to admit the truth about global warming, that it is directly caused by our use of fossil fuels. This would have forced the oil companies to delay their profits by sinking some money into research on "green" fuels and ways to slow down climate change, and people are greedy, they would have rather paid pseudo-scientists 8 million (in the case of ExxonMobil) to find ANY proof that global warming is not happening. Failing that, they attempted to say that it would actually be a good thing. Now, there is no more room to deny global warming and even the oil companies are trying to get greener and find alternative fuels. But we must ask why the Bush administration comissioned a report on global warming and then blacked out large parts of the report, parts that were not convienent or supported the need for change. You also have to wonder where the attack "Going Green will Destroy our economy" comes from, when in fact, change is one of the best helpers of capitalism and creates lots of financial growth. Those who refuse to be cutting edge and still hold onto the status quo will suffer, but as a nation, we will prosper thru change. I think any liberal who accuses this administration of being corrupt and says Dems are not is also being naive. We would do well to stop this two party nonsense and bring some sort of massive house cleaning to our political system, to get our representatives back to the business of representing PEOPLE not CORPERATIONS!

All Yahoo Answers eyes are watching this one ! LOL Gee Vinny grandiose vision of self worth? Sorry but if Cheney task force info was public record, you would not have to ask, would you? official policy of the USA but we are not qualified to know specifics or who helped decide on the policy? Hmmm. You now ask the same questions as we do, but your asking the wrong people, think Vinny it's not that hard.

Nice challenge. I'll rise up to it when Cheney releases the list of his Energy Task Force. How can the common man know when the information is hidden from us?

EDIT: Where in my response did I mention off-shore accounts or secret WH rooms?
All I did was draw the parallel from from my not being able to answer your question directly, to the lack of info on the subject of the Energy Task Force.

But here's an answer for ya: Ray Hunt, CEO Hunt Energy of Dallas. His association with the executive branch is his position on the president's Foreign Intelligence Advisory Board, which he used to sign an agreement with Kurdistan for Hunt Oil to develop fields in that section of Iraq.

OF COURSE, Bush denies knowing anything about the deal...but you didn't ask if Bush KNEW or not, you only asked for NAMES.

Can I have my 10 points now?

Good question Vinny. Thumbs up.

The only answers you get will be kook conspiracy theories about Cheney that are not true.

Doesn't matter if someone likes or voted for a president, but no mentally healthy human being should HATE someone the way lots of people have a personal, dirty, grudging hatred for Bush.

Pray for our President, no matter if it's Bill Clinton, George W. Bush, Richard Nixon, or Abraham Lincoln. It's the most stressful job in the world (and no-where near the highest paying).

I can't name names but c'mon is it really such a long shot that the true reason for the war is oil and the lining of Bush and Cheney's pockets? Wether it is true or false, you can't dispute the fact that is at the very least a possibility.

Wow...what a surprise. The libs didn't answer this...Bhahahahaahahahaha.... I wonder what Oil buddies Carter had back in 1979 when oil was over 100 bucks per barrel?

2007-11-07 05:33:38 · answer #8 · answered by Anonymous · 1 4

They are not going to be able to answer you on this. The whole Bush and his oil buddies has no grounds in fact. It is a way for many liberals with no understanding of economics to feel like they know what is going on. It is the only way they can make sense of it all.
