Cowboy Copas is best-known as "one of the people who died in a plane crash with Patsy Cline;" however, he was a superlative flattop guitar player. His talent is on display in his 1960 hit, "Alabam."

Chris Jones, a bluegrass singer/songwriter (and a DJ host on Sirius satellite), is an outstanding flattop player. I've seen up "up close and personal" a number of times (he used to be the guitar player in a friend's band), and he is absolutely amazing.

The late Randall Hylton was, hands down, the greatest guitarist I ever saw play in concert. He had a "thumb picking" style like Travis and Atkins. To show you just how versatile he was, he always toured with "Sylvia and Michelle the Blonde Bombshell" -- the nicknames of his two guitars. If you closed your eyes, however, you'd swear there were at least two guitarists on stage.
