I'm a huge Pack fan and love Brett Favre, so wondering if anyone else see's this like I do.
I think Brett commands a huge deal of respect from the other players of other teams. He rarely gets hammered. He gets hit and brought down, but they don't seem to smear him like they do some QB's. I think they enjoy playing around the man; talking smack like he and Warren Sapp did in the past. Whats your thoughts?

The chiefs sure hammered him last week. Some of the older guys probably let up on him a bit becuse they have so much respect for him. He earned that because he jumped up in Sapp's face and challenged him to fight. They have never seen a QB do that, so they consider him a football player, not just a QB. he could be right there along side them playing linebacker or something if he wasn't behind center. So yes, I would say that the older guys cut him a little slack.

they're the two incorrect IMO. Favre grew to become into admitedly a fool for retiring and then changing his strategies a month later, however the Packers will additionally be "incorrect" in the event that they run Favre out of city while he nonetheless needs to play. With Favre, green Bay grew to become into one play removed from the Superbowl final 365 days after all. base line is that Favre remains arguably between the best 5 QBs interior the NFL, and Aaron Rodgers isn't. If the Packers can come again between the wonderful QBs interior the league for a million greater 365 days, why turn him away? If green Bay would not welcome Favre back, it particularly is a lose-lose difficulty - green Bay is only no longer as sturdy with green Aaron Rodgers at QB and Favre will finally end up the two dropping his time as a backup or getting traded/launched to play for a foul group.

Overall, I would say that he definitely has the respect of his fellow players in the NFL He has respect for other people, and he plays the game with integrity. He's battled back from injuries, drug addiction, and being the "older guy" in a league that seems to be getting younger and younger. He's got talent, too...almost nobody can hurl a football like Favre can. But he's not stuck up about it...you kinda get the feeling that you could just sit down with the guy and talk about normal things. In a sport where it seems like every guy gets their big break and then goes and acts a fool (*cough* Michael Vick *cough*), it is really refreshing to see someone who has the chops, but stays humble through it all.

So yeah, in short, his peers probably do treat him a little differently, because he's a rare breed of person. He plays people fair, so they play him fair.

I know that he get's creamed. Players want to hit Favre. He get's hit just as hard as any other QB. Because to be the man that takes Favre out of football, that guy would be forever known.

I agree completely - Favre has earned opponents' respect with his toughness and love for the game. I don't think opponents are taking it easy on him, but I do think they'd feel worse about laying him out than they would some others.

I'm not a Packers fan, but anyone who doesn't respect Favre isn't much of a fan. And just like us, I'm sure many of the players admire Favre for what he's done.

Favre has been hit plenty in his carrer. He does get respect from other players because of what he has done,But dont think a big hit wouldnt get layed on him if the game was on the line.

Favre just takes it like a man or Iron man that is

Felicia there are plenty of players who would love to be "the one".Exspecialy some nobody that was on there way out.Are you kidding me your name would be menchened for ever in the NFL.

Your right Stonewall the refs dont whant Favre to do anything but walk away and i think sometimes the NFL does to.They dont even like to talk about him anymore unless its pass tense like when they talk about Romo.Have you noticed Madden doesnt Narate GB games hardly anymore because of all the flac he's gotten about talking him up.

Yes of course they do.

Brett is treated by players, and the media as if his on a different level then any other current player. Kinda like Wayne Gretzky was in hockey as he got older. Part of me agrees that he does deserve a certain level of respect off the field. But on the field he should be treated the same way David Carr.

in my opinion...brett favre is a football legend. if I were out there making tackles, I sure as hell would treat him different.

i dont think you will ever find one player or fan that disrespects favre.

he's inspiring to watch...like a little kid playing football in the back yard who just threw his very first touchdown.

I think that is a pretty interesting perception, and I definitely see where you are coming from. However, I don't get to see enough Pacs games to really give an informed opinion. I'd be interested to see what others have to say on this one...
