The Republicans in the House of Representatives called the Dems bluff on withdrawing from Iraq by forcing it to a vote in which the House voted AGAINST immediate withdrawal?

It sure reminded me of it!

It also reminded me of when the Republicans in the Senate forced a vote on immediate withdrawal and it was voted down 93 to 6. Did it remind anyone else of this as well?

Democrats told people before the last election they would impeach the President and the Vice President AND they would immediatly withdraw the troops from Iraq. This swayed enough votes to allow them to control the House and Senate.

All the Republicans have done by calling for these votes is show the those voters Democrats just duped them. In truth the Democrats had no intention of withdrawing troops or impeaching anyone. Nancy Pelosi's opening statement as Speaker included 'there will be no impeachment.'

It's the same tactic the Democrats used on Bush1 to remind voters he said, "no new Taxes". If Bush's Dad had stuck by what he said Bill Clinton would have never ousted him. But Democrats screamed 'he lied' every chance they got during the election year and Bush1 lost.

Paybacks can be tough. And the promises Democrats made in 2006 just may come back to haunt them in Congressional races in 2008. And don't think Republicans aren't going to remind the public of what Democrats said.

Had we had a Democratic controlled congress a twelve months in the past I woudl say confident, it somewhat is justified. Now i think of we basically could tolerate him for something of the dark an prolonged time all of us be responsive to because of the fact the Bush administration. Iraq is an unforgiveable disaster bought to the yank public as a want whilst, because it seems, it substitute into one guy's elect. i don't care approximately constitutional precendence, if a CEO of a considerable enterprise ran his enterprise the way W runs this united states he'd have been shown the door in the past.

Tankredo's pathetic tirade about impeaching Cheney was merely the dying attempt to gain attention for a dismally failing presidential bid. It was even more pathetic than MoveOn.Org's attempt to discredit Gen Petraeus or the Democrats' backfired letter to try to discredit Limbaugh. The Democrat party is in shambles and they know it. These failures are just a sneak preview of what inevitably will happen next November.

I found it a big waste of time because most of the Dems were not asking for a "immediate" withdrawal. They were asking for a withdrawal with limited measures.

The Cheney impeachment was a waste of time too but was interesting in its argument and certainly made me think of the possibility and the reasons for doing that.

It sure did, Republicans are better poker players I guess.
It also shows the many attempts by the very far left to try and hijack the Democratic party, that really is the main reason most of these rediculos things are happening. The Democrats are trying to appease the fringe elements of their party. And the Republicans are using that to there advantage.

It's not that there are not alot of Bush supporters or conservatives in America, its that those oppossed to them seem to think that the louder they are the more people will support them

Kind of like when the Democrats kept talking about a draft, so the Republicans called for a vote on reinstating the draft.

Ha Ha! I'd say the Reps shut them up real fast and you're right. It does bring back a memory. If the Dems have done nothing else, they have shown us all that they're full of bull butter.

Dems fold like cheap lawn chairs when the going gets tough.

So yeah, lets trust them in the fight against terrorism.

What were the charges they were going to impeach Cheney with anyways? All I read was that the one senator didn't want us to attack Iran.
