Personally, I think it's a good move, IF you can monitor teams, and make sure none of them are cheating. That's the tough part. More importantly, I think you'll find out who the real pilots are. Too many of these kids simply push the throttle down, relying on the cars trac & limited slip to do all the work. Ever watch Alonso's telemetry? It's hysterical...FULL on...FULL off...no in between. Will enjoy watching him drive a car w/ out launch control, trac, etc. See if he really matches up to his rep.
I'm actually excited about F1 for the first time in years!
What other changes would YOU suggest, too?

Val: Oh yes, wouldn't it be great...imagine, a pilot having to actually shift to the gear he wants, using the old "H" pattern shifters...now THAT was the best...who cracked under pressure and missed a gear....oh yeah, great stuff.

it's going to be great fun. the drivers will have to be in control again. it will certainly sort the men from the boys. i would like to see them bring back the gear stick and clutch pedal and see them really drive. that won't happen i know, but it would be fun to watch (well for me anyway lol)

I see that removing traction control will put more emphasis on the driver. But Formula 1 is supposed to be the pinnacle of motor sports where it has the greatest and best technology built into its cars as well as the best drivers. Just by looking at the rules and regulations of the cars of Champ Car, Formula 1 and even possibly Nascar they are similar. The only real difference between F1 and other racing series is that Formula 1 the way they look. They do have the ability to develop the and exploit the rules. Look how they adjust the brake bias. A cable adjust's it. They don't have ABS. They use a spec tire. What is so tech about that?
Williams with there beautiful FW14 series cars were what Formula 1 technology should be!!! No restrictions!!! Whatever you bring to race on Sunday just hope it is enough to win. The FW14 had active suspension which would adjust at every corner and straight away to maximize air flow under the car. Which was good for seconds a lap over its competitors.
Dont get me wrong I love Formula 1 and have followed it for 3 decades now. They do have the best drivers in the world and will continue to watch the grand prix weekends. But at some point it just seems more so a spec series when manufactuers are able to sell cars to other teams.
I would love for Formula 1 to just let the engineers imagination go wild and see what they come up with. Let the engines last for 1 race weekend it sucks when the teams have to limit the racing in order to make sure they last the next race.

It is going to be great, but lets hope we dont get a repeat of what happened the last time the cars where stripped of aids in 1994 - two deaths and half a dozen massive accidents.
They won't be able to cheat, the FIA have introduce a standard ECU (Engine control unit). The reason they allowed TC back in 2001 was because it was impossible to police, they it is no problem as they will all use the same ECU.
The cars haven't had Launch control since 2004, TC is only allowed to kick in after 100m of the start.
It will allow smooth drivers to shine, interestingly though, Fernando Alonso had no TC for the race in Spain 2004 - he had a technical fault - his engineer said at the time he was amazed as it only cost him 0.250 seconds per lap and he adjusted his driving style within half a dozen laps.
So it will be intertesting.... CANT WAIT!

I love the move. Cause now we really see how much the driver's own attributes come into handling the car around the race track. The only thing I worry about is the last time the FIA decided to make such drastic changes, we lost Roland and Ayrton, and Ruebens was hurt. Not to say the wrecks happens all due to the lack of driver aids but i think it did play a factor.

exciting concept, yet i might say that it would make the automobiles slower. inspite of each and every thing, F1 boasts the quickest vehicle race in the international, real? TC technologies is mature and it does eliminate slightly driving force skills, inspite of the undeniable fact that it somewhat is not the suitable project in overtaking. as a count of certainty the lots of the overtaking these days happens in corners the place TC could have prevented it. And there at the instant are not any overtakings in straight away lines the place TC isn't engaged. in case you elect driving force skills to return, clean the aerodynamics, make wider tracks and produce lower back the slicks! ------- ----------- ---------- ------------ ------------- -------------- -------- None taken Mac, and that i wouldn't ignored greater suitable than a handful of races because of the fact the initiating of the 'ninety 4 season, so i be responsive to how life substitute into lower back then. I wont argue on each and all of the standards fearing that it would make it too uninteresting for all others. in basic terms the straight away line one, TC does enable even acceleration for competing automobiles, however the airflow is so disrupted that it doesnt provide the suction result for the pursuing vehicle. in certainty the airflow is so malicious that it is not rather useful to close in on straights. This leaves in basic terms the curves for overtaking. Now you elect 2 volatile (i.e. devoid of TC) machines in close proximity at a hundred and fifty kmph? The races would be some spectacular crashes interior the initiating and quickly human beings will understand that it not healthy to overhaul interior the corners. we now have straight away lines and corners the place overtaking is the two impossible or risky. might that be sturdy? Slicks with TC could be the greater suitable option IMO, the greater experienced driving force can threat a shorter turning radius. and ultimately, TC is basically an help, there are circumstances the place it rather is greater driving force than the appliance. not all is lost. we've considered Lewis being undone by potential of the Ferrari's greater suitable than as quickly as on starts!

It's about ******* time. They really should have done this a long time ago TC has no place in F1 or any type of motorsport.
Pushing drivers from the gravel tracks and using cranes should also be made legal, who knows, maybe then well see the drivers being more daring and try more overtaking moves round corners if they knew that getting stuck in the gravel track didn't mean the end of their race.

It is certainly going to make for some interesting races. It's especially going to hurt those drivers that have been in F1 for a long time with TC such as Barrichello, Button, Coulthard, etc. Those drivers that have not been in F1 for a long time will benefit since they have come from feeder series that did not have TC.
Also we will see who the true drivers are when it rains.
It would be interesting to see what would happen if they banned refueling. Nowadays passing mostly occurs in the pits. If they banned refueling it might greatly increase the passing on the track.

It is going to make F1 interesting, the first couple of races will let the "Young Guns" shine until the older drivers get back into the groove. There might be a few start line incidents to start the year and we will hear the teams howling because they have lost their aids.
Bring it on I say.

i love it this is going to mean having a well balanced car with a butt load of hp isn't enough to win, driver skill (or lack there of) will be just as critical, look out for the return of opposite lock as drivers battle out of the corners
other changes id like to see.... cut the surface aria of the front and rear wings by half, and limit both to single element designs only, compensate the lack of aero grip with mechanical grip, no limit on minimum ride height, wider wheel base, and slick tires, AND NO MORE GOD AWFUL BARGE BOARDS AND WING LETS!!!!!!!!!
i used to be in the group that wanted unlimited designs as well but i read an article that convinced me that it wasn't a good idea, cars as they stand now are pushing 5 Gs under breaking and in some corners, add active aero and active suspension and two horrible consequences will arise, 1 we will have drivers blacking out under G-lock in the middle of a corner, or 2 when a car breaks traction in a corner it will be at such a high speed the death will be certain, those of you that have read my answers on here before will know i think the fia takes takes safety to some ridiculous standards but this i believe is going just a tad too far,

Can't wait. Personally I think F1 is suppose to be the pinnacle of motorsport but without the TC the teams would still find some way to safetyfy it anyways. But it'd be fun to watch some drivers especially rookies handle that... Can't wait...

Great move. These drivers are supposed to be the best in the world. All you can tell now is who has the best engineers. Take it out and see what driver is the best. It will also help the racing because now its possible for drivers to make mistakes.
