i've haven't played either game.. are they similar? which is better? and how is it better? which is newer?

Ok, there's a little bit of confusion going on here.
World of Warcraft is a subscription based MMORPG. Its take $15 a month to play and you control a single character at all times. You have to be online to play.
Age of Empires is a real-time strategy game. In it you control entire armies and try to conquer the world. You can play online against or with other players, but don't have to.
Warcraft (not 'World of') is also a real-time strategy game. It too has BOTH mulitplayer and single-player modes. It is something you can actually compare Age of Empires against.
Warcraft 3 (not 'World of') and AoE 3 are actually fairly similar games, both being RTS games. Age of Empires 3 is more complicated than W3 is as there are a lot more unit choices and the armies can be much bigger. AoE3 also has a lot more empire choices, but most of those empires are fairly similar, unlike W3, which has very different armies. I believe that W3 has larger maps though, and its hero units do make for some interesting micromanagement.
Demos should be available for both, just try them both and see what you like.

world of warcraft is based off of the real time strategy series called warcraft. Age of empires is an RTS, and I personally think that it depends on whetehr you like real history or fantasy. warcraft is a lot quicker game, though. AOE can sometimes take hours! my longest game was 21 hours long.

they are similar in a way. Age of Empires is way better i think because it actually uses real ancient empires like roman, aztec, spanish, and so on. Warcraft is like battling in middle earth with goblins and elfs and such. I think age of empires has better tactical moves on it than warcraft I would go with Age.

They're different. I like Age of Empires better just bc it suits my personality more. Tribal wars is good too as well as dragon fable. (If you're wondering about pooter games). But you have to find the one that suits you.

no... they are two completely different types of games.. age of empires is an rts and WOW is a mmorpg.
which is betetr depends on what type of gam you like
