overshadowed by cheating? I'm so glad I'm not a Pats fan. I would hate to stand by a team that was PROVEN to cheat.
It also seems to me that Patriot fans are looking for validity in backing a team that is labeled as cheaters.

I understand they didn't watch the tape...but the point really is that they would have! And if the taping would not have helped them (as some argue)...then why break the rule at all?

You know JD I keep hearing how that this Patriots team is so good that they can beat any team without cheating. That being said, the follow up question is if you were that good, why cheat??? All I have ever gotten back is blank stares or I don't know. This tarnishes everything the Patriots have done for the last seven years. Fact that the NFL fined Belichick and destroyed everything ( supposedly ) proves the point that the NFL wants this to go away without conversation.
I think they cheated during their Super Bowl Championships. That is a bold statement, I know. But think about this: Is the NFL going to announce to the World that their BIGGEST event of the year was not on the level??? Never. You would lose advertising and ratings. Let's think about it, if they told the world that it was not on the level then people are not going to watch. Credibility is now gone. That is the BIGGEST rated television event of the year. Even people who know sqaut about football watch the game and go to the Super Bowl parties. The NFL stood to lose HUGE money for the Patriots cheating.
So for that, yeah the Patriots fans are probably having a hard time choking down this season. Because with every win, everyone thinks they are cheating. This is now a stigma. The Patriots fans know if their team won the next five Super Bowls that their is always going to be that shadow of doubt. And if you root on the Patriots you can't get around that. With each win they become a bigger joke to the rest of the NFL fans.

I do not think the Patriots can be labeled as Cheaters! Sure they broke an NFL rule, but honestly did they really cheat? They filmed some plays from the other team. Thats what team do to figure out there strategy !!! There is real cheating in Sports like Barry Bonds and NBA officials, to say that the Patriots maliciously and deviously cheated is far from the truth. The fact is these guys were just doing there homework, if anything the coach should be given a bonus.

No, because we could care less what you and everyone else thinks. They took that camera in the first half. We did not use it for enhancing anything. You don't think the league is watching us with a close eye these days? Wake up will ya. The Pats season is exceptional and we as Pats fans are enjoying every moment, because we know we may never see another great team like this again.

I think that the true Patriot fans should stand behind them, and help get them thru it. Doesn't mean be arrogant and obnoxious like some of them on here.
I supported the 'Boys thru the years of jokes about drug use etc. so the Pat FAns should support, just not be so offensive.

WHY do you not get over this, cheating is a fact in life, sports, business, etc.
In BASEBALL they steal signs (but that is OK because it is baseball - don't be stupid)
NASCAR - crew chiefs are always trying to find loopholes
Most athletes have done sort of drug be it approved or not to enhance their abilities. Including Hockey - most take some decongestant to be able to breath better/easier to help them skate faster. Is that cheating too.
LAWYERS - continually bend or work over laws for their client.
STOP BEING BABIES! If your team can't beat the Pats then they are not cheating enough! Plain and Simple so suck it up!
Wipe you nose and move on!

I think the Pats fans can take some satisfaction in laughing at fans like you, who are so desperate to find something bad about New England that you continue to harp on this non-issue.
Why does it seem like everyone except Pats-haters has moved on from this whole blowup?
And for the record, I'm not a Pats fan. I just respect that they're an amazing team, and the whole vidoe thing was overblown.

Really Dave? It was proven that they were cheating. Can you prove they are not doing it now? I just think they arent quite as obvious and arrogant about it as before. Once a cheat, always a cheat...I will never again believe that the Pats win games fair and square until Belicheat and his staff are gone. Ive been a Saints fan from day one, but if they were ever proven to cheat I would not be a fan anymore.

Every team pushes the rules not just in football but every sport whether it is spying, enhancement drugs,noise ect. is it right I don't think so but when the owners are paying that much money for someone to swing a bat throw a ball whatever it seems they have to do what it takes to win

I am behind you (as well as Don Shula) on this issue. I would be happy to see a team have an undefeated season but in the shadows of Spygate it would not look good. If they did have an undefeated season, I agree with Shula that there should be an asterisk next to their record indicating they did have the great season but only because they cheated.
Another issue is how do we know how long they have been cheating? Maybe they would have never made it to all those Super Bowls if not for their cheating...who knows?

I am a die hard Pats fan and it doesn't bother me at all because every team in the NFL cheats in their own way. The Patriots got caught doing it. Eveyone can say what they want about them being cheaters but like I daid,your team is cheating as well. Everyone likes to cry about the Pats because they are so good right now and everyone knows they are not cheating right now.
