DUCKY: The reason most people keep their Q/A private is because trolls go through your Q/A...have a field day and report posts from months before!
People will become your "fan" and then report you for fraudulent violations.
It has become a joke what you have to do to protect yourself for simply stating your opinion.

It is sad when the top contributers lose all of that time and work because a few trolls report them... shame on Y/A!!!

This has happened to me a long time ago under a different nickname and account.
Personally, I have NEVER violated someone... no matter how much I disagreed with him/her. I wish yahoo could just relax and actually see the whole picture... that most questions themselves are antagonistic and sometimes a person should answer in context of that. I have found more questions are actually way much more insulting than the answers... I feel like yahoo does not take this into effect.
I didn't know Brian... I guess you are talking about the guy with the animated dog avatar. I disagreed with a lot of his answers but I was never moved to violate him.
I wonder if other categories have this problem... it seems that yahoo is penalizing people for having strong opinions AND a lot of us are flagging strong opinions we don't like which is wrong.

The question should be why don't the people at Answer never write back when you question the reason an answer or question of your is pulled? Also do they just take the word of the ones doing the reporting or do they review the report first? And is action taken on a person who make so many reports? It seem after so many reports that person would be looked into for a patten.

Not sure about Brian, but I just saw a question where someone was asking about why illegals from some countries are okay but not others. While I do not agree (all illegals are criminals in my view), a woman named Mel REPORTED the questioner, simply because she disagreed! When someone questions or answers and you don't agree, you don't report them! This is why not everyone should be allowed to debate. If someone doesn't violate the community guidelines, you have NO RIGHT to report them! Reporting someone is not a debate tool, nor is it a substitute for countering with an intellegent, well thought out answer.

Brian is gone???
I can't picture that considering his responses. He is always very to the point and definitely does not attack people.
I too lost my first account some months back. I don't ever recall seeing Brian being abusive. Hopefully he will dispute the violations and have his account reinstated.
edit: Mel (above) be careful. It appears that those who least deserve to be suspended are the ones that are disappearing. Due to your thoughtful responses, you may be on their list.

I read YA Politics everyday and don't know who Brian is. Anyway, YA is not one to really promote freedom of expression. They are like the guy with the basketball at the park - if things don't go his way, he leaves and takes his bb with him ( in this case, YA makes you leave if they don't like your answer). It seems YA tries to be politically correct. They are getting as bad as mainstream media - they avoid controversy in the name of "protecting the children" from something considered to be adult. I got smacked the other day for telling a 15 year old who couldn't spell or construct a sentence, that he is fatally incompetent to start his 'dream' alternative newspaper. he went crying to his mommy and YA, and I got stung.

Has the time has come for a revolution within the ranks of Y/A participants. As we watch as for no earthly reason, fair and legitimate folks are disappearing through suspension. Many have achieved a higher level, most are conservative, seemingly share common ground as the victim of Y/A staff inspired reporting, based on vague and open to interpretation rules.

That's life, I've been suspended twice already. He can start all over again. two days ago I was near level 3 and now I am back and level one. Unless you tell every single person what they want to here they will report you. It's as simple as that.

That's pretty bad, I can't think of anything Brian's said that would warrant suspension. It seems like the people with the most convincing arguments for the opposition are reported. That's just not right. Nobody should be reported for their beliefs.
