Well, if you don't win in the regular season, the post-season becomes irrelevant....unless you need to lower your handicap!

When haven't the Sens been a great team in the regular season over let's say the past 3/4 seasons? The team only last year started to show that they could do something during the playoffs. Either way I'm agreeing with you that we need to wait til playoff time to see what Sens team shows up.

What are they supposed to do-plan to lose more regular season games? The Sens have won ten Stanley Cups so far.

I agree completely. We've now got another year of hearing how great this team is, all without them having proven anything.
I remember before the finals last year, every Canadian media outlet had pretty much crowned Ottawa as the champs. They then went out and got killed by the Ducks. So, until Ottawa's last game of the season ends with them carrying a big Cup around the ice, it's pretty meaningless. First place, third place, who cares? All that matters is the end.

Us Sens fans get it, and so does the ownership. That's why Murray stepped back from the bench to take over GM duties full time, and signed extentions for our key players as well. It's a great start for sure, and as a fan you want to see your team win every single game they play in, but we know full well when crunch time is. The only thing this does is make the road easier by playing in friendly confines. BUT... our coup d'etat will come later in the year when we trade Gerber for the last pieces of the puzzle.

one cup wont get them compared to Colorado Detroit or
New jJersey those three team spent almost a decade being cream of NHL with how many cups between them. win couple cups then start whispering their name in that sentence. they are playing great hockey and if keep it up throughout the rest of season and into the playoff they got a chance at it this year. that said playoff long way off and lot can happen between now and then.

Nobody values the long haul..only the buzz. Sabres raised the President's Cup banner to mild applause...shouldn't it be recognized for a fine achievement? The Cup and only the Cup will do...same with World Series or playoff winners in most sports.

Tap the bottle, THEN twist the cap. Not the other way around. You can't get tweaked because they're winning in October and November. This process cannot begin in April.
Besides, they made it to the freaking finals last year. It's not like they choked on a chicken meal in the 2nd round, afterall.
Lastly, the vaunted Wings you are so eager to have the Senators compared to have laid some of the most impressive playoff eggs in recent history.

I think the Senators will make the finals again this year, but will lose to a Western team. Ottawa should win it within the next 4 years, especially since they extended the contracts with all of their big players.

ottawa always does good in the regular season and then towards the end of the year and in the playoffs they are hurt with injuries and stuff
they deserve to win the cup this year or at least get to the finals

Would you prefer they bring their 'b' or 'c' game every night?
I've never been confused for a Sens fan, but, if they have the talent to win every night, they should use it. November seems a bit early to start resting the regulars.
